Sleeping Beauty

Most of my friends are fully aware of my obsession with my bed . I will admit that I have been known to iron my sheets. Yes I did say "iron"! Upon meeting my housekeeper for the very first time and mentioned to her that I require to have my sheets pressed once in a while, she gave me the most disturbed look. I'm not at all surprised by her reaction. It is a bit much, but all of this, and I say this with utmost authority, is worth it when you have but 6hours of sleeping time. Shouldn't one make the best of it? That being said, when I moved to this apt, I had sold my previous bed:a metal canopy bed which I fell in-love with, and had an 8year love affair until my recent relocation to Brooklyn.

I did so thinking that I would want to get a lighter metal finish as the original was in a dark grey natural finish. The stainless steel finish seemed like it would suit the space better. The search thus began with Room and Board. They had agreed to make a custom one for me, but as I pondered the notion of buying yet another metal bed, I began to question it. Do I really want another one given it is all I've ever had.

Then I came across Ralph Lauren's "Rue Royal Bed"in all of its grandeur. It literally shattered every notion in my head of what a bed should look and be like. This made my metal bed seemed rather amateurish at best. I began to do my due diligence and sadly it turns out that the bed is far too big for my space. But I was not willing to accept defeat. I was now on the quest to find the bed that would rival this in its grandeur and glory.

And by accident, I came across the CLEO bed which I found to possess the same quality that I so loved about the ROYALE bed but within the confines of my rather minimimalistic tendencies. I love the the fact that this bed is both classic and contemporary. Handsome and elegant at the same time.

it's MILLER time: Herman Miller that is...

Went shopping at ABC Furniture store last Saturday with a good friend and came across this piece that I found to be the perfect balance in form and function. Herman Miller's "COGNITA" Bench designed by American based furniture company BLUDOT. The piece is wrapped in HM classic walnut plywood accented with enamel drawers and brushed steel legs, and topped with beautiful wool fabric. I was looking for a bench to put in the entry way and I was expecting to see the run of the mill bench but was happy to have discovered such as fantastic piece.
